How to check a laser level for accuracy?
Faulty calibration or off-level accuracy can often have negative or destructive effects. So before leveling the tasks check the accuracy of your laser level. After purchasing the appropriate laser level, you should check the calibration and accuracy to avoid any unwanted surprises.
Step 1: Set up the laser level equipment, insert the batteries or power source and mount the laser level on the tripod. The laser level can rotate freely on a 360-degree axis. If not, make the necessary changes until it does.
Step 2: Turn on the laser level and turn the device toward the target wall or the surface. Place the laser level detector on the target surface. This should give off a signal, and continue to indicate the target area.
Step 3: Repeat this process by rotating the laser to a 180-degree angle. When you perform this step, make sure that the laser is at the same level as in the previous step. Make another marking to put the laser level detector in the target area. The key point here is that the midpoint between the first indicating and the second marking at 180-degrees should be within the tolerance range of your model.
Step 4: Rotate the laser to 90-degrees now and aim the Y axis on the target surface. Indicate the spot where the laser beam is affected.
Then rotate the laser level to 180 degrees one time and make another mark. Check the difference between the marks to see if the vertical distance falls within the manufacturer’s stipulated range or not.
If the beam’s axes don’t fall within any expected range, you may want to measure your laser level. For this, you can access the user manual to identify the device’s error. A properly calibrated laser level can save huge trouble on monetary terms and professional reputation.
